There's only a limited number of ways in which a swingarm can be attached to a bike.
Categorising broadly, focusing on the suspension characteristics, there has only ever been 3 ways:
1.Single pivot
2. Multi pivot with long links (Horst link)
3. Multi pivot short link - with the instant centre forward (DW link, VPP, etc.)
…but now there’s 4:
4. Multi pivot short link - with the instant centre rearward
Options 1, 2 and 3 are relatively straightforward to conceive and develop.
Option 4 is a less obvious concept, but we saw the gap. Our KOLARP suspension platform, is the major evolutionary branch that nobody realised was missing. And there are big performance advantages. So we patented it.
