“above and beyond any existing offerings from the mainstream bike world”

“The Auckland Cycle Works Marra may look complicated, but it’s designed almost solely to solve a complicated problem – suspension performance while braking.
“that KOLARP suspension is really impressive. It is very different to what you'll get from the bigger brands out there. In fact, very different from any other suspension system out there. But the claims that Gary has, they seem to hold up.”
“We need bikes like this, technology like this, thinkers like this, to progress everything, to challenge the received wisdom, the status quo, go at things differently, ‘cos if that’s not what mountain biking is all about … then I don’t know what is.”

“Loads of links. High pivot. Idlers. Made in the UK. Made of steel. Custom geometry and paintjob. And stunningly expensive.
But is it any good? Yes, it’s very good.”
Review by Benji Haworth, Singletrack Magazine, 6th November 2025
It's all about the suspension performance.
Focusing on the performance characteristics, all full suspension mountain bikes fall into just 3 categories.
1. Single pivot
2. Long link (Horst, Lawill)
3. Short link (DW, VPP, 3VO, Switch Infinity, 6bar, DW6, etc. - note these all put the instant centre in a forward position).
But now there's 4.
KOLARP is a short link suspension system with the instant centre in a very rearward position. With significantly improved performance characteristics, this is a whole new category.
Our KOLARP design side-steps the rules that held other designs back. This is how we realise big performance gains, without making something else worse. It's a pure win-win scenario.
